Yasmin Valji

Yasmin is an experienced economist providing insight into regulatory and policy issues, particularly in energy markets.

She uses her knowledge of energy markets with endless curiosity and appreciation for detail to provide insight and pragmatic solutions to the vast array of changes facing these markets.

Recent examples of her work include supporting British Gas with its response to consultations on the default tariff ‘Price Cap’, providing advice to National Grid Gas in setting revenue recovery charges and improving its methodology, advising ESB regarding liquidity intervention in the Irish wholesale power market and reviewing REMIT allegations against EDFT in regard to a number of transactions on the electricity wholesale market in France.

Yasmin has also supported a pro bono project for Emmaus Connect, an organisation dedicated to ending digital and social exclusion, where she estimated the need of vulnerable people in France to access digital equipment.

Prior to joining Frontier, Yasmin worked in both the private and public sectors in the energy sector. She was a senior economist in the wholesale power and gas markets division at Ofgem, the GB energy regulator, and worked as a consultant for Law and Economics Consulting Group (LECG) in New Zealand on a range of projects in energy, health, and public policy.

Yasmin is based in Frontier’s Paris office and is bilingual in French. She holds an MA in Economics and French from Victoria University (Wellington), and the University of Auckland, New Zealand, respectively.
