Frontier announces promotions to Associate Director and Manager

Frontier has  announced promotions within its management team for 2016. David Bothe is promoted from Manager to Associate Director. Aria Rodgarkia-Dara, Iain Boa, Jon Adlard, Hamish Forsyth, Malcolm Tan, Stefan Lochner and Sam Street are promoted from Consultant to Manager.

PROMOTION TO ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

David, based in Frontier’s Cologne office, has over 12 years’ experience as an economic consultant with a special focus on the energy sector. He has wide experience in the fields of energy markets (particularly electricity and natural gas), competition economics,  quantitative market analysis and policy design. He has advised a range of corporate clients in the energy industry (suppliers, traders and network companies) and other sectors as well as regulatory and government authorities.

PROMOTIONS TO MANAGER

Aria joined Frontier’s Energy practice in October 2010. He specialises in gas and electricity markets and is an expert on economic regulation in Europe. He has more than 15 years’ experience in energy markets and regularly manages projects for energy companies and regulators on various regulatory topics.

Iain works in Frontier’s Competition practice. He has particular expertise in applying and critiquing quantitative analysis in merger, market investigation and anti-trust cases.  He has advised on cases in front of DG Competition, and competition authorities in the UK, Ireland and Switzerland. His clients include companies in the financial services, transport, energy and FMCG sectors.

Jon works in Frontier’s Competition practice and has experience in merger cases before both the UK and EU competition authorities, as well as follow-on damages litigation arising from antitrust infringements.  Jon recently advised Poundland on its acquisition of 99p Stores, and Booker Group on its purchase of Musgrave Retail. 

Hamish advises clients across an array of regulatory and competition economics issues, from energy and water, to telecoms and post. Hamish’s advice to private sector clients has included price controls, regulatory design and regulatory engagement. He has also managed projects for national regulators including a study of the packets and parcel sector in Ireland, reviewing the market incumbent’s cost obligations and regulatory reporting obligation, and assessing compliance with access pricing regulations.

Malcolm works in Frontier’s Competition practice, and has a wide range of experience including mergers and market investigations, the assessment of dominance and competition disputes. He has worked on cases before the UK competition authorities and the European Commission, most recently advising on Hutchinson 3G UK’s acquisition of Telefónica UK.

Stefan has extensive consulting experience in several European countries advising public and private sector clients on various aspects of energy, competition and industrial economics. In the energy sector, Stefan worked on a wide range of issues including regulation, market design, dispute support and investment appraisal. He has also led projects on cartel and abuse of dominance cases across different sectors.

Sam has over 10 years’ experience as a professional economist in the UK government and in Frontier’s Energy practice, where he has specialised in electricity and gas market design, in particular related to the low carbon transition, capacity markets, and integrating European energy markets.
