Frontier contributes to report by the CCC’s Adaptation Sub-Committee on the risks and opportunities to the UK from climate change

The Adaptation Sub-Committee of the UK’s independent Committee on Climate Change has today published its UK Climate Change Risk Assessment 2017 Evidence Report. The report sets out the most urgent risks and opportunities for the UK resulting from climate change. Kat Deyes of Frontier was a contributing author to the chapter on risks and opportunities for UK business and industry.

The wider report highlights that the most urgent climate change risks for the UK include flooding and coastal change risks to communities, businesses and infrastructure; risks to health, wellbeing and productivity from high temperatures; and the risk of shortages in the public water supply, and water for agriculture, energy generation and industry. It also highlights the likely opportunities from climate change including the economic opportunities for UK businesses from an increase in global demand for adaptation-related goods and services, such as engineering and insurance; and the potential to increase some agricultural production with warmer weather and longer growing seasons, if constraints such as water availability and soil fertility are managed.

Frontier regularly advises public and private sector organisations on climate change adaptation policies and measures.
