Analysing the economic impact of German carbon reduction targets

German energy company RWE has today published two of Frontier’s studies (in German) on the impact of the German carbon reduction targets:

  • The first study analyses how a mandated coal phase-out until 2040 affects German power prices. The results of this study are being cited in today’s edition of the German business newspaper Handelsblatt.

  • In the second study, Frontier and its collaborators Economics Trends Research (ETR), Georg Consulting and Visionometrics assess the impacts of proposed national and sector-specific carbon reduction targets (set out by the German government in its Climate Protection Plan 2050) on the German energy industry and wider economy.

Recently, Frontier and ETR have also analysed the role of energy intensive industry and affiliated sectors in North Rhine-Westphalia, a region which is particularly affected by energy policy decisions because of its high share of energy-intensive industries.

Frontier analyses the economic effects of energy policy across Europe.
