Frontier has announced promotions within its management team for 2019. Luís Fontaine Campos, James Baker and Phil Sneade are promoted from Manager to Associate Director.  Abbas Hussain, Anna Berry, Carlotta Bonsignori, Chris Cuttle, Garima Nirula, Nadja Trhal and Xavier Mas are promoted from Consultant to Manager.

PROMOTION TO ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Luís has more than 10 years’ experience in economic consulting. He specialises in competition issues, having worked on numerous litigation proceedings before national courts, as well as on merger cases before EU and national competition authorities in the past. Luís advises clients across a variety of sectors, including financial services, FMCGs, retail, telecoms and media. Recent projects include work for Vodafone, Volvo/Renault, London Stock Exchange, Coty Beauty and Ardagh. He is listed in Who’s Who Legal for competition economics and has written a number of articles for the antitrust review Concurrences.

James has over a decade’s experience advising clients on competition issues, including regulatory investigations into mergers, alleged abuses of dominance, horizontal agreements and vertical restraints. He applies his skills across a variety of sectors, often working with colleagues from other Frontier practice areas on matters that require multidisciplinary expertise. He has significant experience in the application of competition law to the wholesale financial sector and has Frontier teams advising number of leading global financial service providers.  James also works closely with Frontier’s energy practice, for example managing the Frontier team that advised SSE during the UK Competition and Markets Authority’s 2016 investigation into the industry.

Phil works in Frontier’s financial services practice, advising organisations on transfer pricing, competition, and regulatory issues. He specialises in dispute and litigation support, and advises tax authorities and firms on global transfer pricing matters. He also advises clients in the financial services sector on a range of European and domestic regulatory issues, including investigations by sector and competition regulators. His recent regulatory work has focussed on reforms to UK retail banking product markets, and the implications of Open Banking and PSD2 implementation.

PROMOTION TO MANAGER

Abbas has a wide range of experience with electricity market modelling and energy market design engagements across Europe, and North and South America. He advises a broad mix of public and private clients – working for regulators and policy makers to help design energy market policy, and alongside private sector clients to develop their strategic response to various policy changes.  He also provides clients with electricity market due diligence and litigation support.

Anna advises clients in the water and energy sectors on a wide range of regulatory issues, with particular expertise in the design of outcomes regulation. She has substantial experience in supporting clients through the development of their regulatory business plans, most recently advising Northumbrian Water and South East Water. Anna is also an expert in Behavioural Economics – she has drawn on this knowledge to design cognitively valid customer research for multiple clients, including leading the design of the first immersive research in the water sector.  

Carlotta works in Frontier’s Competition practice and she regularly advises clients on competition issues including merger cases, dominance assessments, and follow-on damages litigation cases arising from antitrust infringements. She has experience both before the EU competition authority and national competition authorities in the UK and in Italy. Her clients include companies in the digital, telecoms, retail and manufacturing industry sectors.

Chris works in both transport and water sectors. In transport, he is an expert in airport and airline economics and advises majors clients on competition, regulatory and policy issues. He has worked closely with Heathrow for many years on various issues related to expansion and economic regulation. He also works for airlines, and has recently advised Airlines UK, easyJet, Ryanair and Emirates. In water, he worked closely with a number of companies ahead of PR19 with a particular focus on Ofwat’s service quality regulation, and he also advises companies on setting tariffs.

Garima advises regulators and leading telecoms operators in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.  Her wide-ranging experience allows her to bring insight and expertise on the telecommunications sector when advising on competition and regulation issues.  Her recent work has included advice through a European Commission merger-clearance process as well as a mobile merger in India, policy advice on incentivising the roll-out of fibre in UK and cost-benefit analyses for spectrum reallocation to IMT. 

Nadja works in Frontier’s Competition and Energy practices and has extensive consulting experience in several European countries advising public and private sector clients on competition issues, regulation and market design. She has gained a profound knowledge in a variety of competition cases (follow-on damage litigation cases, abuse of dominance and merger cases) across different sectors. In her energy work, she has advised European regulators and policy makers on incentive and quality regulation, cost of capital estimation, efficiency benchmarking and energy costs. Her recent experience also includes projects on promoting energy efficiency measures that incorporate behavioural economics insights.

Xavier works in Frontier’s Competition practice and has experience in follow-on damages litigation cases arising from antitrust infringements as well as abuse of dominance, merger and cartel infringement cases. He has experience in cases before the European Commission and national courts in various European jurisdictions, including the UK, Spain, Netherlands and Israel.
