Ooredoo Group and CK Hutchison have announced a US$6 billion merger in Indonesia, where their telecommunications businesses will now operate under the new name PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk.

It’s hoped that the merger will create a more competitive company, as PT Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Tbk will be Indonesia’s second largest mobile telecoms company, and also contribute to digital growth in Indonesia.
