Michael Zähringer

Michael advises companies, policy makers and regulators in the energy and automotive sector on market design, regulation and competition.

His experience of working for industry members, policy makers and regulators from various countries gives Michael a unique insight with clear perspectives of both sides of the market. Michael is an expert in market design and has led several projects on renewable energy auctions and policies for sustainable transport technologies (for example, a crediting system for renewable fuels). He has also provided competition assessments in merger proceedings and arbitration cases in the energy sector.

He joined Frontier in 2008 from the Bonn Graduate School of Economics where he was enrolled as a Ph.D. student and his main area of research was auction theory.

What did you want to be when you were 10?

A physicist, after reading Stephen Hawking’s “A Brief History of Time”.
