Bringing customers along on the journey towards a greener future

Frontier Economics are working with Western Power Distribution (WPD) and others on a new project called VENICE (Vulnerability and Energy Networks, Identification and Consumption Evaluation).

The project is linked to WPD’s commitment to achieving net zero and will involve the use of innovative techniques to ensure no customers are left behind in the transition to a smarter, greener network.

Frontier’s role will be to analyse changes in electricity use during the pandemic (for instance, the shift to home working), and explore how these changes may persist in the medium-term.

The conclusions drawn will help WPD and other DNOs shed light on how these changes affect customers in vulnerable situations, and what they mean for future network planning. VENICE is funded by Ofgem’s National Innovation Allowance. For more details on the project, you can read WPD’s press release here.
